Blog Thoughts 03062011

I read a lot of forums, Blogs, news items and take in bits of TV opinion "news." After all in my condition there's little else to do. With that said I decided to reinstate tiny bits of items I come across mostly in the newspaper. A lot of it will be political but I will try to not include any that have a slant towards one side or the other but no promises.

I had a Blog using another service a few years back and decided to move here with a mostly picture oriented forum and try to stay on the humorous side with some informative and thought provoking articles once in a while. In the meantime I accumulated bits of these mostly one sentence comments which I will try to now post one a week. There will be no particular day of the week I intend to upload them and no promise I will be regular like clockwork as the days have become more frequent that I can't do anything.

With that said here are my first offerings:

After reading a number of political blogs I must agree with Churchill that "the best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."

Then there is the American senator from Louisiana Russell Long who once said, "Don't tax you; don't tax me; tax that fellow behind the tree." Sounds a lot like what I've been hearing lately.

Speaking of money and politics: There is never enough money for a greedy person, so it would not matter how high some politician's pay is, they would still cheat and make money for themselves on the sly.

Paying politicians more will not stop them taking extra money under the table. Congresspersons' pay should be the median college educated income for their district.

Wrapping this session up then with a comment about those with the most money:
This one makes me think of where I was born and spent the first 18 years of my life before I escaped. That area of the country's billionaires advertised in parts of Europe for cheap labor to come to America.

Some billionaires have built America; others have become billionaires on the backs of the poor.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy.’ They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.~ John Lennon
