Firemen Fight Fire Knee Deep In Beer Cans

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Hundreds of empty beer cans and other debris made it difficult for firefighters to knock down a late-night house fire and probably cost a Tempe man his home.
Crews were called out to a house in the neighborhood southwest of University Drive and Mill Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. The flames were already going strong inside the house when they got there.
When they opened the door, firefighters were confronted with a sea of beer cans that poured out the entryway. They said the cans, possibly more than 1,000 of them, came up to their knees in some places. Additional debris in the house made things even more difficult.

World War III Would Be Just the Beginning For Newt

Newt Gingrich doesn’t just want to lay waste to his political enemies and a large part of the news media. The former House speaker and presidential hopeful wants to bomb a significant part of the planet, too.

Gingrich is on the record favoring American military intervention from North Korea to Lebanon. He recently threatened cyberwar with China and Russia. And on Monday, he called for an all-out assault to topple the Castro regime in Cuba. With such a wide range of targets, no wonder Gingrich has consistently said that the U.S. is in the middle of “World War III.” His plans for overthrowing the Iranian government? Just the beginning. In fact, if President Gingrich encounters any little green men while building his moon base (!), they had better pray to their astral maker for mercy.

In a July 2006 interview, Gingrich lamented President Bush’s alleged reluctance to “connect the dots” between what a Seattle Times reporter summarized as “bomb attacks in India, North Korean nuclear threats, terrorist arrests and investigations in Florida, Canada and Britain, and violence in Israel and Lebanon.”

That same month, citing the same litany of conflicts, Gingrich said on Meet The Press, “I believe if you take all the countries I just listed, that you’ve been covering, put them on a map, look at all the different connectivity, you’d have to say to yourself this is, in fact, World War III.”

We All Die

Your Are Fired: 21 CEOs Landed $100M Plus

Looking at these figures my mind keeps seeing them as in the hundred thousands so I have to force myself to see that they are in excess of hundred of millions.

I worked myself burning the candle at both ends and ruined my health only to see people like these having more money than they can possibly spend in five lifetimes.  I really wonder at times if there is a way to "take it with you when your die."

In the end we all die including the rich, poor, uber health nuts, athletes, porn stars, beauties, homely. young and old, the pampered and the tortured, the famous and the nobodies.

...So-called golden parachutes are contractual provisions that compensate executives, if they are terminated without cause. And according to a first-of-its-kind report, the payout practice has guaranteed several outgoing chiefs with nine-figure landings to help soften the fall from their corner offices.

The biggest parachute according to GMI Ratings Report? More than $400 million awarded to Jack Welch, after he served as General Electric’s CEO from 1981 to 2001. While Welch is widely credited with turning GE into a global conglomerate powerhouse, the report does not compare an executive’s performance with the amount of their compensation. Rather, its authors say the purpose of the survey was to cast light on the amount of compensation that was awarded above and beyond the salary provided during the CEO’s tenure.

... 21 CEOs received more than $100 million each in “‘walk away” packages. In all, companies like GE, Exxon Mobil Corp., AT&T and Home Depot Inc., have collectively provided nearly $4 billion in golden parachutes. But according to Hodgeson, those figures could be on the low-side.

...According to the study, 21 CEOs received more than $100 million each in “‘walk away” packages. In all, companies like GE, Exxon Mobil Corp., AT&T and Home Depot Inc., have collectively provided nearly $4 billion in golden parachutes. But according to Hodgeson, those figures could be on the low-side.
‘These numbers don’t include the perks – the use of the corporate jet, the corner offices – a lot of the compensation that doesn’t get listed on the public files.’

Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus || Spoken Word

I was raised in a Catholic environment and went through all the required steps.  Then I moved out.  During the next few years I became exposed to other religions and a whole lot more of life.  Most of all I learned to think for myself.  I eventually settled to become a Baptist but that too eventually did not satisfy my thinking.

Like the author/poet giving us his opinion below I too do not subscribe to religion.  I guess I should really say I am against organized religion.  The final straw, for me, was when I heard a Baptist music minister tell a eight-year-old child they were going to "burn in Hell" if they did not change from being a Methodist and become a Baptist.

Why does religion preach hate?

The author's word not mine:
A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it's core Jesus' gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can't do your own list of rules and feel "not good enough" for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don't represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy.’ They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.~ John Lennon
