Grizzly Charges Tourists
I don't know about these people but if I had been there either the bear would have turned away because of the huge stink in my pants or I would not know how it turned out because I would have ceased to exist due to heart failure.
But then here is the report of what took place:
But then here is the report of what took place:
...10 tourists visiting Katmai National Park and taking part in what was billed as a safe viewing of the Grizzly bears in their natural habitat, according to the Daily Mail. But one of the bears suddenly charged from its stream directly at the tourists, who were forced to sit in silence, lest they upset the bear further and provoke a potentially deadly attack. At one point, the bear reportedly got close enough to a tourist to sniff his hooded sweatshirt, before returning to the stream.
'We had a safety class beforehand about what to do if we encountered a bear," tourist Larry Griffith, 59, told the Daily Mail. "All the bears were catching fish when this particular bear circled our group several times, wanting us to leave his fishing spot. This was not supposed to happen. Our guide said he saw this as a bluff charge, trying to scare us, which he did! We were all in shock but were happy that no-one in our group jumped up, ran away or screamed for their lives."
What Did You Give Facebook Permission To Do?
If you use your cell phone to post on Facebook you have given Facebook permission to let them edit, receive, read or send SMS messages which would all the company to integrate its service with text messaging. You gave them that permission when you downloaded and accepted the app.
Facebook said ... the suggestion that we’re secretly reading people’s texts is ridiculous,” the company said in a statement. “Instead, the permission is clearly disclosed on the app page in the Android marketplace and is in anticipation of new features that enable users to integrate Facebook features with their texts. However, other than some very limited testing, we haven’t launched anything so we’re not using the permission. If we do, it will be obvious to users what’s happening. We’ll keep you posted on our progress.”
The Facebook app permissions list posted on the Android Market does, in fact, include permissions that allow the company to edit, receive, read or send SMS messages, which would allow the company to integrate its services with text messaging.

School Censors Atheist High School Student
LENOIR CITY — Krystal Myers is an honors student, captain of the swim team and editor of her high school newspaper.
She's also an atheist in a predominantly Christian student body.
In a recent editorial that Myers, 18, intended for the Lenoir City High School newspaper entitled "No Rights: The Life of an Atheist," she questioned her treatment by the majority.
"Why does atheism have such a bad reputation? Why do we not have the same rights as Christians?" she wrote.
Myers' editorial also accused school administrators, teachers and coaches of violating the constitution by promoting "pro-Christian" beliefs during school-sponsored events.
Lenoir City school authorities have denied Myers permission to publish her editorial in the Panther Press, the staff supervised student newspaper.
They also say their policies do not violate the constitutional rights of any students.
Schools Director Wayne Miller said it was the decision of the school authorities not to allow publication of Myers' editorial because of the potential for disruption in the school.
"We do have the right to control the content of the school paper if we feel it is in the best interest of the students," he said.
School administrators do have the right to control information distributed to students if publication would cause a disruption in the school, confirmed Dr. Charles Haynes, senior scholar at the First Amendment Center in Washington D.C.

Text And Walk = FAIL
About 10 seconds into the clip watch the woman with long hair coming from the center right going in the direction of the man's shoulder.
Does this woman really finish texting while down?

Space Station Observation Night View Up The East Coast Of North America
I look at this video and am reminded of what sky watchers mean by "light pollution." It speaks volumes about how much power has to be produced to light the country. And all that produces heat and consumes energy resources.
I spent a lot of time in the sixties flying as well as driving back and forth between Atlanta and Pittsburgh. Most of the time my travels were during daylight hours.
I remember one one winter the return flight was at night. The flight had a very brief stopover in Charlotte and then on to Atlanta. What stuck with me was the almost total absence of lights except around larger cities.
In 1995 I had to make a business trip from Atlanta to Long Island. The flight up was near the end of daylight but the return was a night flight. I was amazed that all the way there were bright lights...no patches of darkness below along the way.
Play this at full screen and pause it along the way to pick out where you live if on the east side. Look at the top edge of the screen and you will see part of a solar panel.

Peek At Our Future
The results shown here are typical of what you get from both private and public school students. I saw it over and over in the classroom for thirty years.
It does not get much better than this even after they finish high school and college.
What is worse is the lack of understanding how our government works by the general population.
But the general population will know who is who on "Dancing With The Stars", "Idol", the characters details from "Jersey Shore" and the plot of the vampire movies.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy.’ They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.~ John Lennon
